Another year, another language😊

I started learning Gaelic in September. I was in Italy at the time and had a sudden thought that it was strange that I have learned several languages but never the one of my homeland. I have to say that Gaelic is the most challenging one to date. But I don’t give up easily so I’ve now enrolled in an online course at Edinburgh University (yep, my home town) starting at the end of this month.

If I briefly had any doubts about embarking on this new linguistic journey, the word ‘dùthchas’ made them evaporate. Such a beautiful significance. The link in the comments will take you to a better and more comprehensive description than I could every give you here. Enjoy!

If you happen to be in the UK, there’s a lovely documentary about it on BBC Alba. If you’re not, and if you’re not living in your homeland, you may recognise something in this word.
